World Series of Poker Television Schedule
Thousands will be competing at the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) for $10M, the biggest prize ever. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the WSOP is its Cinderella factor: the ability for no-name amateurs to win a spot among the best professionals. Chris Moneymaker did it in 2003 when he won a seat to the WSOP through a $40 satellite tournament hosted by PokerStars, an online site. An unknown in the poker world, Moneymaker beat 838 players to win $2.5 million. The next year registration in the main event tripled and 2576 players played towards the $5M first prize. This years turnout is estimated at 6000 participants playing for a $10M prize. Quite an evolution in a gaming event that originally began in 1970, when only a few pros played at Binions Horseshoe to see who was the best.
This year marks the first that the WSOP is played at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas since Binions Horseshoe sold the tournament event to Harrahs. Below is the television schedule for all broadcasts of the WSOP.
