A Review Of The World Poker Tour

Published on March 11th, 2005, 2:53 pm EST

You have probably seen the World Poker Tour on TV at one time or another, if you are a hardcore poker addict or even casual fan of the game. Whether it's 9 pm EST on the Travel Network or 3 am in the morning, this show can be an entertaining look into the mind of a poker player.

Hosted by Shana Hiatt, Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten, the World Poker Tour shows the final table from various large multi-table tournaments. Often featuring celebrities such as Ben Affleck or Tobey Maguire, the World Poker Tour gives us a chance to view all of these different and often entertaining personalities. How entertaining is Phil "Unabomber" Laak? How cool is it when someone unknown makes their way to the final table? How great is it to see Canadian born Daniel Negreanu consistently dominate the final table?

The only drawback to this show is the editing. If only you saw how long some of these players agonized over their decisions, it would add a little something to the drama of the situation. However, due to obvious time constraints, this isn't possible.

The King heartily recommends that you watch the World Poker Tour, as it will significantly enhance your appreciation of the game and probably improve your own poker play.
