Tim Vance Chipleader of EPT Copenhagen
Published on February 22nd, 2008 8:15 pm ESTTim Vance, who qualified for the EPT Copenhagen event through a 10,000 FPP satellite on Pokerstars, is currently the chipleader heading into the final day of play on Saturday.
There are currently eight players left in the event. Vance has a massive chip lead, as he is currently sitting on a stack of 1.408 million chips. His next closest competitor is Rasmus Hede Nielsen with a stack of 789k. Nielsen was the chipleader heading into day 3.
The most recognizable name left in the tournament at this point is Daniel "THE__D__RY" Ryan, who is currently third in chips with a total stack of 557k. Ryan has been doing extremely well for himself lately. He recently come in second in a FTOPS event for just under $170k.
All eight players remaining are guaranteed a payout of at least 113k USD, with the first place winner set to receive $1.236 million dollars.
The final table bubble burst when an exceptionally nasty beat took place. Danny Ryan shoved holding K-Q of hearts, and Johan Lund snap-called holding pocket aces. The flop came 7 J 9 with one heart. However, the turn and river brought the 4 and 3 of hearts, and Johan Lund was sent to the rail in heart-breaking fashion.
This event was loaded with well-known talent, however there are barely any recognizable names set to participate in the final table when it gets underway at 2 pm local time on Saturday.
As mentioned, this event has proven to be a huge success for Pokerstars.net and the European Poker Tour. The event sold out again this year, despite an increased cap and increased buy-in. There were 460 players in the event this year, creating a prize pool of just around $4.4 million dollars US.
