Last year, I went out on a limb and predicted that Dutch Boyd would win a World Series of Poker bracelet. Lo and behold, Dutch Boyd bested Joe Hachem in the short-handed NL Hold'em event to pull down a bracelet.
This year, I am predicting that Mike Matusow will win a bracelet.
The reason? To me, it seems as though Mike has been focusing more on his tournament game as of late, and seems to be taking tournaments a bit more seriously. To me, as a Matusow fan, this is a great thing, as Mike absolutely spews chips in cash games, and is one of the best tournament players around when he is on his game.
He is definitely elevating his game at the right time. Mike recently won the Poker Superstars III championship for "500 dimes", and came in 5th in the Wynn Classic. In addition to that, he just today busted out of the 2007 World Poker Challenge in 23rd, a respectable finish.
Mike's game is rounding into shape, and I believe he will have a very strong World Series of Poker. Besides, I mean who wouldn't want to see Mike win a bracelet? He's one of the most entertaining and endearing names in poker. I for one would have a huge smile on my face when he won a bracelet. Good luck Mike!
