The extremely entertaining poker show, High Stakes Poker, came roaring out of the gate earlier this week, as they had their first episode of the year, which featured mainstays such as Daniel Negreanu and Doyle Brunson, and also new faces such as William Chen and Jamie Gold.

The season got off to a great start, as Jamie Gold lost $20,000+ off of Doyle Brunson after Gold tried to bluff Brunson while Doyle was holding the nuts.

Surprisingly enough, Matusow had a good night, winning several big pots and establishing good reads on his opponents. Will he be able to keep it up though, or will he shoot off all of his money, like he has been known to do before?

Gold, Brunson and Matusow dominated this episode. Negreanu was uncharacteristically quiet, and wasn't involved in any big pots of note. The big winner of this week's episode appeared to be Mike Matusow.
